Internet VoIP Telephony May Rework the World's Phone Systems
Internet VoIP telephony is a clever way to reinvent the wheel when it comes to the traditional telephone system. More than likely, one day Internet VoIP telephony will completely replace the traditional phone services that are now available. This is a revolutionary technology that has been around for a little while and is growing steadily. Major carriers like AT&T are setting up for VoIP calling plans in several markets around the world.
What's unique about Internet VoIP telephony is that there is not just one way to place a call. There are three different ways this service can be commonly used. One way is with ATA. This is the simplest and most common way to use Internet VoIP telephony. The ATA is an analog to digital converter. This system takes the analog signal from your regular telephone and converts it into digital data that can be used over the Internet. Most providers are bundling ATAs free of charge with their packages.
Setup is Easy
You simply take the ATA out of the box; plug your traditional phone line into it and you're ready to start making VoIP calls. The setup for this type of system is a straightforward setup and easy to install.
More Options
Another option is an IP phone for your Internet VoIP telephony. These special phones look just like the normal phones with a handset, cradle and buttons, but instead of having the standard phone connections, your IP phone will have an Ethernet connector. An IP phone connects directly to your router and has all of the hardware and software necessary inside of the phone.
The third way you can use Internet VoIP telephony is through computer to computer. This is the easiest way to use VoIP. You don't even have to pay for long distance calls that are made and there are several companies that offer free software as well. This software can be used for VoIP as long as you have software, a microphone, speakers, a sound card and an Internet connection that is fast. You don't have to have a fast connection, but there is better quality with this option. Except for your monthly ISP fee, there is usually no charge for computer to computer calls, even if they are long distance.
This is a cheaper alternative to traditional phone lines and you can talk to anyone from around the world. It's no wonder why it is predicted that the future will involve a whole new process with telephone communications.
