Is It a Breeze?

Macromedia, a company which has always made first class software, albeit, with a learning curve in most instances, has an etnry into the VOIP market, it is BREEZE. This software offers portability, but not ease of use, it is extremely functional, but has a training curve. One user mentioned that within two training sessions of approximately one hour each, they were able to use the system, but that it still had loads of buzzers and whistles that they hadn't yet learned to use. Breeze like other Macromedia products has the full functionality of the user in mind, as with all the other software developed by this company, their VOIP is not simple to use, but, it is one of the most thorough programs available and it will do what they specify.

Breeze can go large scale, supporting up to 2000 users on a teleconference, this is considered, for this type of software, to be a large number. "Macromedia Breeze, built on the almost ubiquitous Flash platform, offers strong performance and a wide range of features, including perpetual conference rooms, a highly tailorable user interface, and excellent video and VOIP support in hosted and on-premises deployment modes. The underlying use of Flash eases deployment and makes presentation and whiteboard displays fully scalable, so users don't have to scroll or switch to full-screen windows. Although details are scant at this point, Macromedia's pending acquisition by Adobe Systems should strengthen Breeze's positioning and sales channels."[Mann, 2005]

According to one reputable third part reviewer, as of 2004, the approximate price for 10 users on the teleconference software was $9,500, which is above many other vendors [see PCMAG.com, 05.20.04]. Price isn't always the prime consideration, for example, if there are user limitations in terms of numbers, the evidence suggests that Breeze would be a logical choice in that it can overcome large numbers. If the prime consideration is service, Breeze is sporting a strong set of users who are satisfied with the end result. Breeze stacks up well against the competition, and, in terms of VOIP it presents a good set of software for the money.

Breeze is no challenge to install; it is fully automated and integrated to the PC. Breeze is a Macromedia Flash derivative, and has the high graphics that users of Macromedia products have come to expect. "As you would expect, Breeze Live employs Macromedia Flash both for the interface and presentation format. Breeze Live offers slide presentations, application sharing, Web tours, polling, instant messaging, chat, file sharing, whiteboard, and note taking. It has some nice administration and reporting features, too, letting you assign passwords to users, limit meetings to designated users, and assemble users into groups." [PCMAG.Com, 2006]
