Even though VoIP has been around for only a short while, providers like Vonage who offer these services, are growing steadily while major companies like AT&T are seriously considering acquiring the same type of system.

Most of the services listed below are offered in a package by VoIP; a traditional phone company often charges you separately for each service.

There are also advanced call filtering options available from select providers. This is a great option to allow you to choose how to handle a call from a particular person by using the caller ID. The following list explains some of your options:
* Call forward to another number; this is helpful if you are going on vacation and still don't want to miss the call or if you are at work and want to get the call there.
* Send the caller, with the particular caller ID, directly to the voice mail service.
* Always give that person, with a certain caller ID, a busy tone.
* Play a 'non in service' message.

VoIP services also includes voice mail checking via the web or you may attach messages to an email that is then sent to your computer or handheld. Not all VoIP services offer all the services listed, they depend on the provider, but shopping and researching before deciding on your provider is advised.

It has one monthly fee and since there are no taxes for internet calls, thus the prices are really affordable.
